Who we are

At Pregnant and Protected, we are a team of solicitors who are highly experienced in advising and representing clients on pregnant / maternity or family-related issues that may arise at work, from redundancy situations whilst on maternity leave to issues with pay and holiday entitlement.

Our legal experts understand the difficulties faced by working parents, from dealing with formal flexible working requests to fit around childcare to advising on their rights whilst expecting their child and returning from leave, together with all that may crop up in between.

Our employment solicitors are genuine experts in this field. We have assisted individuals who have contacted the Pregnant Then Screwed legal advice line for legal support, for over 10 years, and as a result have helped thousands of women through these types of situations, whether that be assisting with the drafting of grievance complaints, providing the necessary advice on settlement agreements, through to representing individuals in the Employment Tribunals.

Our unique positioning means we understand cases from both an individual and business perspective. Our team is highly skilled in representing individuals on family-friendly rights, as well as handling cases on behalf of employers – to educate and advise them on best practice to ensure working parents are treated fairly.

Meet the team

  • Danielle Ayres

    Partner - Employment

Danielle is one of the go-to solicitors in the area of pregnancy and maternity within the UK.

Whilst on maternity leave with her first child, she was shocked to hear from other new mums about the unfavourable treatment they were being subjected to by their employers, as a result of them having a baby/being on maternity leave. This experience drove Danielle to set up free legal advice clinics for expectant and new mums at various centres across the North West and working closely with a number of specialist partners and organisations, such the Charity, Pregnant Then Screwed for whom she has provided legal advice for cases referred on from the PTS advice line for the last 10+ years.

Danielle has been involved in some big cases representing individuals and businesses when it comes to parental rights in the workplace. She has successfully secured apologies, large settlement sums and Tribunal awards for her clients, as well as successfully defending claims.

As a Mum of 2 boys, Danielle spends most of her spare time on the sidelines of various football matches for her two young sons, as well as juggling the work-life balance of being a mum and a full-time solicitor.

Danielle has been named a Leading Lawyer over the last few years in the Legal 500, as a result of her work in this sector.
